Title: The Greenhorn
Author: [livejournal.com profile] fleurlb
Crossover: Deadliest Catch
Word count: 1,500

Characters: Tim Riggins, Jonathan Hillstrand, Andy Hillstrand
Rating: PG

Warnings: None
Spoilers: Spoilers for all of Season 5 of Friday Night Lights

A/N: Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] devilc, for providing this new, delightful fact to my head canon.

Summary: The Timebandit has a new greenhorn with a shady past.

First day of the crab fishing season, the wheelhouse on the Timebandit

“So, how are you feeling about the crab fishing season so far?” asked the producer, just to start things rolling. Jonathan and Andy were seasoned veterans of the interview, but the producer still found it best sometimes to point them in the direction that he wanted to go. God knows where they’d end up otherwise. Given the bags under Andy’s eyes, they’d had a late last night in port.

Himself is off doing photography things this weekend and I've finally got a chance to start my long-planned FNL rewatch. Will be posting about the rewatch as I go along (which I imagine will be breath-takingly slowly). I'm trying to figure out things here about story-telling and what makes a good story. And I'd love to hear any thoughts about the show that anyone else has. (Eventually, I'd like to do the same detailed rewatch for Leverage and Sons of Anarchy, but we'll see how this first one goes.)

I had so much fun doing this meme last year, I decided to do it again. And look at that, I'm a good week earlier than last year. (And I thought last year was hard, beached on the couch. Chasing a toddler elevates 'busy' to a whole new level. :))

Title: You Just Don’t Know It Yet
Author: [livejournal.com profile] fleurlb
Yuletide Recipient[livejournal.com profile] devilc
Word count: 10,500
Characters: Hastings Ruckle, Buddy Garrity Junior, brief appearances by Luke, Tinker, Becky, and Coach Taylor
Rating: PG
Warnings: None
Spoilers Spoilers for all of Season 5 of Friday Night Lights

A/N: Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] devilc , for providing the opportunity to work with two of the most criminally underused characters ever. Thanks also for providing a reason to step outside of my usual comfort zone and dive into slash. Or rather, fumble my way slowly. :)

Summary: Hastings Ruckle has a simple plan for Dillon, Texas: no attachments, no drama. It's a foolproof and simple plan, until Buddy Junior shows up and ruins everything.

When Hastings Ruckle rolled up in Dillon, Texas, he’d already memorized twelve home addresses and had suffered through being the “new kid” at eight schools. He saw Dillon as a cross between a challenge and a prison sentence: survive the next two years and then he’d be free. Able to attend any college he wanted. Able to set down some roots and live in the same damn place for four whole years.

Rating: G
Characters: Hardison, Sophie
Word Count: 1,800
Spoilers: Vague spoilers for all seasons, but nothing specific.
Warnings: None
Disclaimer: I own nothing here and am just doing this for fun.
Summary: Sophie and Hardison have a heart-to-heart over gross tea and a tin of emergency biscuits.

Sophie returned to the office to find Hardison sitting at the briefing table, watching what looked like a live feed from Eliot’s personal gym. She paused for a minute and studied the scene, watching as the hacker watched grainy images of a small blonde throwing kicks and punches while Eliot coached her.

Title: Fallen
Author: [livejournal.com profile] obstinatrix
Fandom: Supernatural
Rating: PG (language)
Characters: Sam, Dean, Castiel
Spoilers: Vague spoilers for the end of S5, but not really
Warnings: None

Disclaimer: I own nothing here and am just having some fun.

Summary: When it's all over, Castiel falls and is reborn into his own body. Sam and Dean raise the baby. It's an interesting life, parenting an old friend with your brother.
A/N: Written for [livejournal.com profile] spn_summergen for [livejournal.com profile] obstinatrix. Thanks for providing such a charming and enjoyable prompt. :)

Title: Ranger School
Author: [livejournal.com profile] fleurlb
Fandom: Leverage
Rating: PG (language)
Characters: Eliot
Word Count: 3050
Spoilers: None - set pre-series
Warnings: Um, there’s a snake. Also, my motto is 'never let the facts get in the way of a good story', so I may have possibly taken some small liberties with how Ranger training words.
Disclaimer: I own nothing here (besides Charlie Mac) and am just having some fun.

Author’s Note: So, [livejournal.com profile] ziplocless very graciously donated money for [livejournal.com profile] help_pakistan in exchange for a story from me. She gave me some great ideas, but the story just refused to be written. Then, my baby ate my life and I embarrassingly fell further and further behind. Now that I’m slowly getting a small fraction of my life back, I realized that the reason I couldn’t write the story I wanted to write was because I had to write this story first. Downside, ziplocless’s story is still depressingly and mortifyingly late. Plus side, at least I’m make progressive even if I can’t make promises on when the ‘real’ story will be finished.

Summary: His Ranger buddy has a major personality flaw, but maybe, just maybe, Eliot will be able to get through the training without hurting the guy.

Eliot rolled into Ranger school confident that he could make it through the grueling experience. He wasn’t being cocky. He was being realistic. In his unit, he’d been known as Steamroller: single-minded and unstoppable. Eliot knew that all he just had to keep putting one foot in front of the other no matter how much his body wanted to quit, and he’d have his tab.

So, we're up in Dublin for a few days. Himself has to teach a class on Saturday and he also wants to intoduce Liam to his favorite aunt, who is 96. When someone is that old, you don't hang about, promising vaguely to visit someday.

This visit was meant to correspond with an interview at the US Embassy to register Liam's birth, but the embassy has suspended all appointments. They're suppossedly improving processes or paperwork or something. All fine and good, but Liam and I have plans to visit my family in Ohio in May and he can only enter the US on a US passport. (yes, transatlantic travel alone with a baby. I'm either crazy or ... Crazy. Don't think there's any other choice on that question.)

The upshot is that there is a second trip to Dublin in our near future. Good for seeing friends/family but annoying because I really hate the place.

So, in an effort to focus on the positive, I'm stealing this meme from [livejournal.com profile] chemm80 and [livejournal.com profile] somnolentblue....

Leave a comment and I'll reply with something I love about you.

Title: Excitement on Craggy Island
Author: [livejournal.com profile] fleurlb
Crossover: Father Ted/True Blood (yes, seriously :))
Characters: Father Ted, Father Dougal, Father Jack, Mrs. Doyle, Eric, Pam
Word Count: 4,000
Rating: PG

Spoilers: None that I can think of.
Warning(s): None that I can think of.

Disclaimer: I own nothing here and am just doing this for fun.

Summary: After the Great Reveal, Eric and Pam are sent to Craggy Island on a public relations outreach mission.

A/N 1: Thanks to my recipient, Basingstoke, for requesting both Father Ted (#3) and True Blood (#4). My match was for True Blood, but after I saw Father Ted, the first scene popped into my head and I couldn't resist what is possibly one of the craziest crossovers ever.

A/N 2: Special thanks to my fabulous beta, elzed, for her speedy and thorough review. She kept me honest on voices and canon.
Speaking of canon, this diverges slightly from the True Blood canon.

A/N 3: Never let the facts get in the way of a good story. :) Please hand-wave or consider AU as necessary.

Like the rest of the world, on the night of the Great Reveal, Father Ted and Father Dougal sat in their living room, dumbfounded by the stories and pictures on the television. They’d been promised a “monumental revelation that would change the course of human history”, but they’d been expecting at most the collapse of a far-off government or news of a natural disaster. Nothing had prepared them for the truth that vampires existed.

Spoilers for Supernatural: Up to and including “Weekend at Bobby’s” (604)
Warning(s): None that I can think of.

Disclaimer: I own nothing here and am just doing this for fun.

Summary: When Parker encounters something that seems way outside the ordinary, Eliot has to call in back-up.

A/N: Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] zortified, for bidding on my cross-over entry in the [livejournal.com profile] help_pakistan  auction, and for your patience in giving me time to get the story finished. Hope this measures up to your expectations and was worth the wait. :)

When Eliot arrived at Nate’s apartment, he could hear the familiar sounds of Parker and Hardison bickering. He paused, hand on the door, trying to decide how annoying they sounded and if he’d need an extra cup of coffee to deal with them. He rated the argument as moderate and decided to chance going in.

For this one, I decided to go with the first scene that popped into my head. I figured it was kind of like a multiple choice test, where you should always go with your first instinct. (BTW, apologies for being so far behind on the comments. I've come down with an annoying head cold and have pretty much been reduced to sleeping, sniffling, and rocking/moaning. Make no mistake, I am a PRIZE right now.)

OK, so I just broke my rule about not signing up for any secret santa exchanges this year. But, but, but, it's Leverage. And it has early signups/assignments and then an entire month of posting, so I'm happy to give this one a go, especially since I can probably get the story written before Lil'Bit's arrival. (And yes, this is the point in any conversation when I feel compelled to speak to my belly and tell LB to stay in there as long as necessary. :))

Anyway, if you're looking for something to do while you're waiting for Yuletide signups to start, consider signing up for Leverage Secret Santa. The turn-out last year was apparently fairly small, so join in and make it bigger and more fun this year. :)

Title: Our Last Days as Children
Author: [livejournal.com profile] fleurlb
Recipient[livejournal.com profile] faithintheboys
Word count: 11,000
Rating: PG
Warnings: None
Spoilers for SPN: Up to and including 5.6 “I Believe the Children Are Our Future”
Spoilers for FNL: All of Season 1. Everything after that is mostly AU.

A/N 1: Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] faithintheboys , for providing the opportunity to combine two of my favorite shows. I’ve taken a lot of liberties with FNL, to make it fit with my timeline. I’ve also conveniently ignored pretty much everything that happened after FNL’s first season.
A/N 2: The title comes from an Explosions in the Sky song.
A/N 3: Thanks to the friendly mods for their understanding and assistance and also for running an awesome exchange.

A/N 4: Finally getting around to posting a link on my own LJ. The link will take you to the spn_summergen com, because I'm just too lazy and tired right now to post it properly here, since it's so long that it takes two parts.

Summary: From the prompt: AU, Crossover with Friday Night Lights. The one place Dean never wanted to move from was Dillon, Texas. He played football there and was good at it. He even considered playing college ball. As the world is ending, Dean and Sam are drawn to Dillon on a hunt.

Dean shifted in his seat and stretched his legs, hoping to get some pressure off his belly. The breakfast had been delicious, almost too delicious, and finishing off Sam’s extra sausages had almost certainly been a mistake. Still, at least they weren’t in a rush, and he could relax and enjoy the Sunday paper.

So, LJ has apparently added some new functionality that will let you cross-post comments to Twitter and Facebook. I don't really understand the mechanics of it all, but there seems to be some messed up workflow in which I can f-lock a post but a commenter can still cross-post comments on the post to their Twitter and FB. This post explains all this a lot better than I ever could.

There doesn't, as of now, appear to be any way to opt out of this entirely. Which, for reasons outlined in the above link, is massively annoying. My FB is a mix of personal friends and work colleagues, all of whom know nothing about my fan fiction hobby. And frankly, for a plethora of reasons, I prefer to keep it that way.

So I ask that you please not cross-post comments here to Twitter or FB. I also ask that if you're replying to a comment I left on your LJ, please don't cross-post the reply. And if you happen to love this new functionality and are opting in to automatic cross-posting of things on your LJ, please let me know and I'll send you PMs instead of comments.

I know this probably sounds extremely antisocial or paranoid (and honestly, I'm not even sure how FB would know that this account is associated with my FB account, since I use different email addresses), but I really do like to keep this part of my life compartmentalized.

Thanks in advance for your co-operation on this.
