Summary: Sophie and Hardison have a heart-to-heart over gross tea and a tin of emergency biscuits.

Sophie returned to the office to find Hardison sitting at the briefing table, watching what looked like a live feed from Eliot’s personal gym. She paused for a minute and studied the scene, watching as the hacker watched grainy images of a small blonde throwing kicks and punches while Eliot coached her.

Summary: When Nate and Sophie are kidnapped, Hardison has to step far outside his comfort zone.

6. Make a sound in the east, then strike in the west. In any battle the element of surprise can provide an overwhelming advantage. Even when face to face with an enemy, surprise can still be employed by attacking where he least expects it. To do this you must create an expectation in the enemy's mind through the use of a feint.

Hardison often thought that their work had no happy middle ground. They were either doing awesome, getting everything they needed and watching all their pieces fall into place. Or they were standing by helplessly while a vanload of thugs drove off with somebody. Which was damn funny when it happened to that fake psychic. It was a lot less funny when it happened to Nate and Sophie.

Hardison had spent six weeks cajoling Parker to play an elaborate guessing game about her birthday, then another two months before he guessed right. It was a moot point, since he’d hacked his way into learning her birthday before he’d even started his campaign, but he’d known he needed to come about the information honestly or else it would just seem creepy.

Eliot never really cared where he lived, as long as it had clear lines of sight and multiple exits. It was Hardison’s idea for the team to live in the same building. Even though it made good practical sense, Eliot suspected the hacker’s intentions had nothing to do with logic and everything to do with creating his own personal Hall of Justice.

Hardison had finally talked Parker into a vacation, although she still didn’t understand the point of a trip that didn’t involve stealing anything. She supposed that Kauai was pretty enough, if you liked lush tropical plants and didn’t mind a bit of rain.

She’d enjoyed snorkeling (like living in an aquarium for a few hours), loved the helicopter ride (although it would’ve been way better if the pilot had let her stick her head out the window), hated kayaking (too slow), and tolerated the movie tour (but only because it was cute to watch Hardison geek out every time the tour guide mentioned Raiders of the Lost Ark or Jurassic Park).

By the fifth day, she was bored and her fingers were getting twitchy. She couldn’t help noticing that all the other tourists, with their ridiculous fanny packs and shallow-pocketed shorts, were practically begging to have their wallets stolen.
