Give me one of my fandoms and I'll tell you
1. Three canon things I love
2. Three canon things I hate
3. Two fanon things I love
4. Two fanon things I hate
5. Two things of my personal canon
The fandoms to choose from are: Friday Night Lights, Supernatural, Sons of Anarchy, True Blood, Veronica Mars, Saving Grace (the TV show with Holly Hunter, although I've only see 1.5 seasons so far)

(Deleting and reposting this because *sigh* I am LJ-stupid.)

Ok.....

1. Three canon things I love
- The relationship between Veronica and her father - it's a little quirky but somehow real and loving and sweet.
- The way the first season's murder mystery unraveled slowly through the course of the season.
- Logan and Veronica when they're together.

2. Three canon things I hate
- The cartoonish nature of the first few episodes, especially with the PCHers. It nearly put me off the show altogether.
- Veronica's mother. Ugh. I just wanted to punch her in the face.
- Most of the storylines in the third season. It's like they were trying to do too much or something.

3. Two fanon things I love
- The gameon_vmfic community
- all of the future/AU LoVe stories

4. Fanon things I hate
- I really don't want to read about Lamb. He's yucky. Just no redeeming value at all.
- Ummm.....ummm........nope, not coming up with a second one.

5. Two things from my personal canon
I really don't have anything in my personal canon but I do think that Logan and Veronica get a mostly-happily-ever-after. Eventually.

Reposting because apparently I am a dummy too. :)

I think a lot of the Lamb love comes from fans' love of Michael Muhney, who is, I've heard, super-nice to fans and a joy to have at conventions and other fan events. But that doesn't mean that his character still isn't a villain. IMO, what he did was worse than what Cassidy or Dick or anyone else at that party did. He's an adult and an officer of the law, so he was obligated on many levels to help her, and he didn't.

I'll go with Sons of Anarchy.

You are so right. I was kind of just reacting in general to his smarmy jackass-ery and general incompetence, but you're absolutely right. Now I hate him a bit more. Thanks.

Oh yay! I do not get to talk about SoA nearly enough. (I watched the entire first and second season this weekend in preparation for the finale on Tuesday. Seriously, it's an illness.)

1. Three canon things I love
- The development of Jax's character. I was reading an interview with Kurt Sutter and he was talking about how FX wanted Jax to be older but Sutter held his ground because he wanted a character who had seen a lot but hadn't yet decided what kind of man he was going to be. It has just been so much fun to see Jax try to figure that out while dealing with everything his life throws at him.

- The development of Gemma's character. You think Buddy Garrity is the most unsympathetic character in the world? Uh-uh - it was S1 Gemma. Take a little Lady MacBeth, a little Queen Gertrude (I think that's her name - Hamlet's mom), and a WHOLE lot of bitch and that was Gemma. But the events of this season have done a lot to change her.

- Weston. I know, I know. He's an absolutely despicable human being (and that tattoo on his chest, tres classy) but he still managed to have a human side. He's a guy who has picked a really bad cause, but god help him, he supports it all the way. And when the choices he makes to further that cause have horrible consequences, he sucks it up and takes it like a man.

Honestly, it was really hard to narrow it down to three. I love Unser. Abel is the cutest baby in the world. Ryan Hurst deserves an Emmy. Tig....oh dear, his development in S2 was awesome and I so want to hear more about his backstory.

2. Three canon things I hate
- The tease over the Men of Mayhem patch. C'mon, just tell us what it means already.
- Fiona. Her accent is horrible and I still don't understand why Gemma finds her so scary, why Chibs is still in love with her, and why she looks so exotic. I hope this gets explored more in S3.
- The way characters and storylines can just drop off the edge of the earth. Where's Darby? Did Trammel survive? What about those assault/gun charges at the church? This is something that happened in The Shield too, so I wonder if it's a bad habit Sutter picked up or if it's a deliberate part of the story telling style. (Or just a casualty of the g.d. 13-ep season.)

3. Two fanon things I love
- I love SoA cross-overs.
- Anything that provides Jax/Tara backstory.

4. Fanon things I hate
- The rampant Tara hate. I just don't get it.
- The proliferation of OC fics, particularly as a love interest for Jax. (I believe this would be related to the Tara hate.)

5. Two things from my personal canon
Again, I haven't written enough to have developed a personal canon. But I have a feeling that's going to change during the long wait until S3. I made a list of ideas at work today and I'm very excited about a few of them.

So have you seen the finale yet? I know you said "on Tuesday" but I also know you're horribly averse to spoilers, so I don't want to say anything wrong...

(I accidentally left this at first as a new comment instead of a reply)

Yes, yes I have. I'm always a day behind, but rarely two days behind. (Esp when I have the ITunes season pass and I *heart* the show.)

I watched it yesterday after work and had a hard time falling asleep several hours later because my nerves were just all jangly after it.

There seems to be a lot of that going around. I wonder if my reply stayed attached to your comment, since you deleted and reposted while i was replying.

PS - Thank you for being so respectful of my spoiler-phobia.

EEE, I know.

Okay, so re Weston - now, realize I haven't seen all of the episodes, but I was starting to think that Rollins is just a really bad actor, until the finale. I couldn't even muster up hate for Weston, he just seemed a bit lame. But I totally agree, he sucked it up there at the end and I totally admired him for it. Even telling his kid never to talk to the cops. Honor among thieves, and all that.

He's a guy who has picked a really bad cause, but god help him, he supports it all the way.

Oh, absolutely. That's what makes him a much more sympathetic character than his boss.

And I would say the Tara thing is like the Lyla thing in FNL, except Lyla just really was never that likeable, where Tara is. I was both horrified and fascinated in the last episode when she beat up that administrative bitch. And now she's wearing her tough-lady clothes, lol. Loves it.

Fiona. Her accent is horrible and I still don't understand why Gemma finds her so scary, why Chibs is still in love with her, and why she looks so exotic. I hope this gets explored more in S3

Yeah, this is a bit weird. I'm glad I'm not just missing something.

Oh, and Gemma. I am so angry with Gemma right now, I could kill her myself. She screwed up so bad it's not even funny. I know she's a tough broad, but she has to realize that she doesn't know everything that's going on in the background and should at least have the sense to keep her head down when there's orchestrated revenge going on. Poor Half-sac, poor Abel, poor Jax and Tara. Sometimes I'm not all that big on Charlie Hunnam's acting either (his "walk" when he's being Jax drives me nuts, and I can hear his accent creeping out at times) but he absolutely had me by the heartstrings when he collapsed on the dock. I think one thing I love about this show is it really does allow the male characters to show emotion and affection - these guys are so secure in themselves and their "family" that it all comes out.

I love SoA cross-overs.

Me too! And I love that everyone wants to turn Tim into a porn star, lol.

ETA: Good lord, I did it again. This time I'm leaving it, lol.

Gemma. For fuck's sake. I totally agree with you. That was such an almighty bad decision and to justify it with 'God put her in my path'... Ugh. Which I guess just goes to show that you can make a character more sympathetic and you can make someone stronger and develop facets of their personality, but if something in them is broken, then they're still going to make really bad decisions for all the wrong reasons.

I think one thing I love about this show is it really does allow the male characters to show emotion and affection - these guys are so secure in themselves and their "family" that it all comes out.

Yes - exactly. The other thing I like about it is that it lets women be tough and even violent some times. If men aren't typically 'allowed' to cry in our culture, women aren't usually allowed to punch people either. (Like all the BS over that soccer player Elizabeth Lambert - I have seen SO much worse at International Rules matches.)

But I have to disagree with you on Charlie - I love the Jax walk. (The slipping accent doesn't bother me as much as Fiona's. You know, there are actually Irish actors out there just dying for a job.)

What is it about coming over to my LJ that infects everyone with my LJ-dumbness????

*bounces* FNL? ♥

Absolutely.....even though I find that icon completely distracting. (Some web site ranked the top 100 sexiest guys on TV and TK was #50. I do not understand that at all.)

1. Three canon loves
- S1 Tim Riggins. So beautiful. So damaged. *dreamy sigh* I just want to save him.

- Coach and Mrs. Coach - it is SO nice to see a functional, loving marriage on television.

- 'Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can't Lose' - I love this philosophy that if you go into something with the right attitude, give it everything you've got, you will come out a better, stronger person in the end. (Even if you end up losing the game.)

2. Three canon hates
- Season 2. Wacky-stupid plots, strike-shortened, just a disappointment after S1. I've rewatched S1 countless times but rarely bother with S2.

- The way the arcs were set up in S3, that they broke it into 4 eps of Smash leaving, 4 eps of Jason leaving, 4 eps of getting to State and then the tacked-on epilogue of the wedding/contract dispute/college decisions.

- The short seasons for 4 and 5. With a cast that big and so many story lines, it's hard to do them all justice in only 13 eps. Think of something like Tim and Jason's falling out in S1 - it was something like 10 eps before they had their 'still friends' talk. It felt very real and satisfying.

3. Two fanon loves
- Tulie, of course :)
- Any back stories, put particularly ones that explain where Mama Riggins is and also look at Tim and Jason's friendship before the accident.
- I know it says only two, but I also love stories of what REALLY happened in Mexico. (I'll give you a hint - it did NOT involve praying.)

4. Two fanon hates
I seriously love it all. I discovered fanfic after I finished S2 and but before S3 started and was desperate for more stories from Dillon.

5. Two personal canon
- I'm partial to my version of Luke's backstory. Yeah, I know, he could've been on JV, but I still don't feel like we've been told what year he is (and the only way it makes sense for him to be a senior is if S4 and S5 are covering a single academic/football year. Why would they have a guy come one as a senior and then graduate him before the fifth and likely final season.)
- The missing scene of Tim telling Landry to get his ass to practice.

(Nuuh! LJ has eaten my comment notifications)

S1 Tim is so beautifully broken. Taylor plays that so well I think.

Coach and Tami have such a real and loving relationship, I really wish there was more of that on the TV. And they should adopt all the kids in Dillon.

The Panthers have an awesome motto, I wasn't sure about it when I first heard it, then I worked out what it meant, and it's beautiful.

Can was pretend S2 never existed? That would be cool. And the end of S3, which was just badly paced.

Tulie is the darling pairing of the fandom. I think it works though, for everything that's against them, they're both more perceptive than they let on.

Luke is rather interesting I think. I'd like to see them explore him a little more.

Tim telling Landry... I've missed something here... ♥

I think notifications are all messed up by the sheer metric fuck tonnage of virtual gifts.

You probably haven't read the Tim and Landry scene, maybe, if you're avoiding S4 spoilers?
