I think the problems with Lyla in early season one are mainly the fault of the actress--and they're only made more obvious because all of the other actors on the show are SO good. Her "he's never going to walk again!" scene with Tim in th erain makes me cringe--she's just so bad. But still, I think Minka Kelly really improved a lot over her time on the show. By the end of the run, she was pretty good.
