A Better Thief

Disclaimer:  I own nothing here and am just doing this for fun and to ease my new-found Leverage addiction. 

 

A/N: Written for my bonus prompt, #27 (a classroom) @ story_lottery.  So, ten days, six full-length stories plus the tiny bonus fic, just over 25,000 words in total...and I'm finally done. That was great fun. :)

Through the open windows, Parker can hear the other kids playing at recess. She’s stuck in the classroom, pinned to her desk by the disapproving stare of Mrs. Kowelchevsky. Parker despises the woman, from the top of her absurd black beehive to the tips of her scuffed orthopedic shoes. But what Parker hates most of all are the teacher’s piggy eyes, which seem to have the special power to zero in on rule-breaking.

 

 

And the punishment’s always the same: no recess and 500 stupid lines, Parker writing and writing and writing until her hand aches and she wants to stab someone with her #2 pencil.

 

I will not climb on the snow piles.

I will not jump off of the baseball diamond’s backstop.

I will respect other people’s property.

Stealing is always wrong.

Fist-fighting is unacceptable behavior.

 

Parker had long since come to the conclusion that breaking these arbitrary rules was not the problem. Getting caught's the problem. 

 

She’s decided to take her foster father’s advice to heart and is determined to become a better thief.
