Rules: Tell me you want to play, give me a list of your fandoms (old and new) and I'll pick three of them. Then update your journal and answer the following questions:
1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?
2. Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
3. Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?
4. Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
5. Do you think more people should get into this fandom?
rachel_wilder gave me FNL, Veronica Mars and NYPD Blue.
FNL
1. The last few Januarys, Himself has been gone for an entire month to teach a college course in the States. Left to my own devices, I tend to read a lot and download trashy high school shows that I'd never want him to know that I watch. Two years ago, this meant Secret Life of the American Teenager, My Super-Sweet 16, and some MTV reality show about being too young to get married.
Last year, I decided to give FNL a go. Not only did it blow my mind, it also raised my standards to the point where I can't watch a lot of the trash that I used to watch. While I used to enjoy Secret LIfe, now I despise its fakeness and absurdity. I tore through the first two seasons in record time and then was pulled up short, since the third season wasn't on iTunes yet, even though it was airing on DirecTv. (That totally threw me off.)
It was the characters that sucked me in and wouldn't let go. Tim Riggins, Coach, Tami, Julie... I was so obsessed with Dillon, Texas and its inhabitants, that I started reading (and eventually writing) fanfic for the first time ever.
2. I've dropped off a bit, but think I'll stay for S5.
3. My absolute all time favorite has to be "Crossing the Line." I also loved "Wind Sprints", "El Accident", "Ch-ch-ch-changes", "Let's Get It On", "There Goes the Neighborhood", "New York, New York," and "The Son".
4. Fanfic, mostly. I used to do discussions over at Television without Pity, but then I lost interest.
5. Absolutely. It's definitely one of the most underrated and under-appreciated shows on television. And it looks like the fifth season is the last chance.
Veronica Mars
1. I blame
celtic_flicka for this one. :) I got into the show pretty much so I could read her stories.
2. I think I've pretty much already moved on. I've seen all the episodes and don't do much fic reading these days.
3. "Weapons of Class Destruction" and "A Trip to the Dentist" really stand out for me.
4. I read a fair bit of fic and wrote one story.
5. Sadly, I think its day has probably passed.
NYPD Blue
1. I started watching during the second season. I'm not even exactly sure why. My dad watched it, so maybe I started watching so we'd have something to talk about.
2. I've definitely already moved on. I stopped watching sometime during the early Ricky Shroeder years.
3. I can't think about "Hearts and Souls" without tearing up, even though it's been 12 years since I saw it. I also enjoyed "Double Abandondo", "The Bookie and Kooky Cookie", "These Old Bones", "Caulkmanship", and "My Wild Irish Nose".
4. Here's me revealing my age and geekiness. Back in the day, I particpated in a Usenet newsgroup. :)
5. Again, I'm thinking this is one whose time has come and gone. But maybe I'm wrong and there's a thriving NYPD fic community just waiting for me to find it.
