Meme: Repost this in your own LJ, tag eight people, swap any questions you don't like with new ones :)

I was tagged by [livejournal.com profile] otherpervert. I'm shy about tagging, so I'm not going to do that part. If you want to participate, by all means do and leave me a comment so I can go see your answers. :)

Lots of pillows or just one?
Just one. Although lately, I've been keeping an emergency extra pillow around for when the heartburn is extra bad. Elevating my head a little alleviates the feeling that I'm going to lose my lunch.

What kind of books do you read?
Trashy ones, mostly, which you already suspect if you've read any of my 30 Days of Books meme. :) I love mysteries, dystopian future novels, and some contemporary fiction that doesn't take itself too seriously.

What are your neighbors like?
Our nearest neighbors are summer/weekend people that we hardly ever see. I don't even know their names, even though we've lived in this house for almost 3 years. Our next nearest neighbors are two houses about 1/4 mile up the road. They belong to our landlord and his sister, both lovely people. Our landlord is an awesome guy and we've been so fortunate to rent from him. The only 'bad' thing about him is that he got a new dog in the spring, a border collie-yellow lab mix, who is the bane of Blunderdog's existence. I hate walking past the house if the dog is out because he'll come right out and challenge Blunderdog, who is not one to back away from a challenge. (And because of this and an unfortunate antagonistic relationship with most other male dogs, Blunderdog wears a muzzle when leashed.) The silly thing is that Blunderdog has kicked the other dog's ass, but still the damn dog persists. (On a side note, watching a dog lose a fight to a muzzled dog is hilarious.)

What's really creepy?
The ocean creeps me out. The Irish have a saying about the sea taking what the sea wants. Maybe a year after we moved over here, a ship sank with three men on board. During the rescue, one was saved. During the attempt to recover the remaining two bodies, one of the rescuers was lost in a freak accident. Yeah, I'm convinced. The ocean = creepy. (Funny enough, I love going to the beach and swimming in the ocean - it's more the far-out, impossibly-deep, completely-unknowable ocean that freaks me out.)

What's your current fandom/obsession/addiction?
All my fandoms seem to be on the wane, but I still love Leverage and Friday Night Lights.

Do you prefer your junk food sweet, salty or savory?
Mostly sweet, although I do really miss pretzels. (And it goes with out saying that chocolate-covered pretzels are about as close to heaven as a mere mortal can get.)

What websites do you always visit when you go online?
Gmail, hotmail, LJ, Facebook, Slate, Chicago Tribune, news.google.ie

What was the last thing you bought?
I went grocery shopping today. Very boring.

What is your greatest fear?
Something happening to Himself.

Do you get cravings? If so, what do you crave?
Not too much these days, which I guess is surprising. In the first trimester, I had a mild craving for Twizzlers, which I asked my mom to send me. She talked to her sister, who told her that red licorice can raise blood pressure, so my mom refused to send them to me. Then in the second trimester, I had a brief period of craving roast potatoes. And these days, I'm mostly eating things that won't rile the delicate ecosystem that my squished-up stomach has become. (Bread, milk, cheese, carrots, apples, bananas.)

What do you do to change your mood?
Take a bath and/or a nap.

What was the last meal you ate?
A cheese sandwich, followed by a glass of milk and a piece of toast.

Do you want to learn another language?
I'm currently trying to learn Irish, since we live in a designated Irish-speaking area (called a gaeltacht). In practical terms, although the signs are in Irish, everyone here speaks English as a matter of course. But the instruction in the local school is all in Irish, so Lil'Bit needs to be fluent, which means we need to be fluent.

Five things you can't live without?
Family
Internet
Friends (seems weird to put friends after the Internet, but the Internet is how I interact with most of my friends, who are scattered all over creation.)
Laptop, for both the Internet and writing
iPod nano, for podcasts, music, and radio

Find the closest book currently sitting near you and flip to page 36. What is the first sentence of the second paragraph?

Metabolic screen. This is a blood test performed at 24 hours of life and repeated at two weeks of age.

Sounds like a best-seller for sure, right? :) It's Baby 411 by Denise Fields and Ari Brown.

What's something that you'd like to say to someone right now?

Ummm.....I'm coming up blank here. Sorry. Guess I'm all talked out to everyone.

What are you looking forward to?

The LIl'Bit's arrival, allegedly 'scheduled' for five weeks from tomorrow!
